About the Author
Jane Roberts studied History and the History of Art for a B.A. [Hons] degree at London University and took a Master's degree at the Courtauld Institute in Italian Renaissance Art, concentrating on the Venetian Renaissance. Thereafter she worked in London for a year during which time she wrote the catalogue for Colnaghi's exhibition of French Drawings - Post-Neoclassical. In January 1975 she became Curator of the Print Room at the Royal Library, Windsor Castle, where she produced the catalogue of the exhibition Leonardo da Vinci: Anatomincal Drawings, shown at the Royal Academy 1977-78, and has been co-author of the catalogue Holbein and the Court of King Henry VIII for the exhibition at the Queens Gallery, 1978-79.

Seth is the masters degree in channels

I love reading channeled material. I love the concept. Whether its just the authors imagination, or an actual entity speaking through a medium, Im fascinated by the concepts.
I read many different channeled authors at one period in my life. They're fun, good for some personal growth ideas.

And then there's Seth.

Seth's concepts are not cutsy fables, presented by a channel for light reading.

Seth is like the Noam Chomsky of channels. His writing is of such a magnitude and quality of depth, that he leaves other channels far behind.

I enjoy having my mind blown by powerful concepts. Even taking them as purely theoretical. I found just checking his world view out enriched my experience of my own life profoundly.
You don't need to think of any of it as "the TRUTH" or "THIS is the WAY". There's a million points of view out there. I just found Seth's point of view absolutely fascinating, well expressed, and worth the time to read.

If you're someone who loves ideas for the sake of ideas, and want a very empowering way to view the world, read Seth.

At all times his words seek to place one in touch with ones own power. He speaks to encourage individuals to take full responsibility for their own beliefs and to take responsibility for ones own life.

His books aren't "new age fluff". They are not "oh just think positive."

These are very real, very genuine essays on how to truly face ones own life. He is very aware of how nuanced our minds are at hiding from ourselves. He's like the best wise man of the village. These pages are full of loving empowering wisdom, a humorous poking at our egoism and limited beliefs.

Good Book, Helpful, For Seth Fans

For Seth fans, this is a good book to add more insight into the dream realms. Some of the concepts, such as parallel timelines, is very interesting and helpful, and there are good practical suggestions on how to remember and interpret certain dreams. It is one of Jane's older books, however, and doesn't have the same powerful clarity as some of the other books. Much of it relates to their personal life (Jane and Rob) and their own explorations. Since these occurred in the 1960s and 1970s, our collective consciousness has grown considerably to the point that much of this information seems a little antiquated. Still, I do believe in the validity and value of the Seth material, overall, and this book will help any who are on an awakening path, whether or not you are aware of the other Seth books. Better suited for those wanting to add to their understanding of the entity Seth and the life of Jane Roberts, a woman who contributed greatly to society through her efforts, sacrifices, and willingness to connect to those subtle realms.

Jane Robert's at her best

There were two great and controversial American innovators in the field of the spiritual in the seventies: Jane Roberts and Carlos Castaneda. Both are great writers, but their mentality is totally different from each other. Castaneda has suffered from a backlash for over twenty years now, but in my opinion Jane Roberts has only gained throughout the years. This is a posthumous book about the beginning of her experience as a reluctant psychic, and a good one. I'd say it is for anyone who likes to delve into matters deep and mysterious. The tone is personal and the scope is wide. If you feel that channelled information is a load of bs, check this out first. I did, and even if I don't buy everything that is said, i have to say I love Robert's style and her mind.

Not for dummies or beginners at all. You need to be able to read music to use this. No instruction at all.

For "Dummies"? You need to be able to sight read sheet music to be able to use this book. All it has is a bunch of songs, with no instruction whatsoever. You can download the same exact thing for free and print what you want to work on. This is 46 songs you may or may not want to learn. Unless you already know how to read music it is useless. The only thing good is that it has guitar chords. I advise anyone who wants to learn jazz piano to download a jazz 'cheat' book in PDF. If you want to learn a song, just print the song. This is not even a good book for using if you can read music since it does not have a ringed binder (The pages will not stay in place as it sits on the music stand) I really feel like I was cheated with this. I was looking for an instruction book, not a bunch of songs that I can't read.

Pretty Good

While I didn't enjoy this book as much as some of the other Torey Hayden books I've read, I did like this book.
The troubled children in this book were lovable and as always, Torey worked miracles with them. I really felt her love for them. My favorite of the children was the autistic Boo.
Read this book - you won't regret it.

Torey Hayden, author of "One Child," charts a year in the life of a special education classroom with some unusual and unforgettable students. They include Claudia, an academically gifted, pregnant twelve-year-old; Tomaso, who witnessed the death of his father; Lori, a girl whose abuse left her unable to read and write; and Boo, an autistic boy with a fondness for giving weather reports. How they bond, become a class, and deal with the largely unsympathetic outside world makes for a remarkable story. Even more gratifying is the epilogue, in which we learn that all four made gains after they graduated from Hayden's class, all quite remarkably.

A straightforward account of four unusual children and their extraordinary teacher

Special ed teacher Torey Hayden tells the story of a year within her classroom, when she struggled to help four students -- 12-year-old Claudia, a shy, bright parochial school student who is pregnant; Tomaso, a Mexican 10-year-old who became wild and unreachable after his stepmother murdered his father; seven-year-old Lori, unable to learn after physical abuse at the hands of her biological parents resulted in brain damage; and Boo, also seven, and severely autistic.

Most days, Heyden admits, she was full of frustration, as these four kids aren't exactly easy to work with. In addition, having the four -- with widely different needs -- *together* was also a challenge. But still, something within her refused to give up. Although many others before her had dismissed each of the children as lost, Heyden wanted to believe that wasn't true.

Although it crosses into the realm of potential sap, preachiness or self-admiration, the book never goes there. While Heyden's quest to help the children -- and resulting success with them -- puts her well ahead of others, she never takes on the air of patting herself on the back for it. Rather, she is a mere human; one who often becomes frustrated, as anyone else might be; and far from perfect. Often, as she becomes fixated on the children, Heyden forgets to balance the other areas of her life, which become problematic as a result.

This is a fascinating look at a year in the lives of four different special needs children, and what one caring individual does to try to help them.

A Beautiful Book !

I am reading the fantastic new Grateful Dead book Dead Heads by Linda Kelly. The interviews are amazing. All kinds of regular nondescript Deadheads and their stories. One about going to Bill Grahams house for Christmas dinner and meeting Jerry and his entire family just months after his coma. Another about cooking Cajun at Bob's house and a detail account of Bobs mountain bike accident by the only eye-witness. This book will last way past all others in its relevancy. Thank you Linda.

� intenso, curto, r�pido, exatamente como foi o processo que ele viveu nos 11 dias (12, na verdade…) que o livro acompanha. � exatamente o livro que as pessoas que buscam novos caminhos para a vida, o trabalho e os relacionamentos precisam neste momento; especialmente pelo tremendo poder de s�ntese; por fazer compreender rapidamente; com uma linguagem muito simples, conceitos essenciais do despertar para este novo momento do mundo.
De um modo leve, e sob medida para uma gera��o que acostumou-se a ler mais posts que livros, Tanaka compartilha uma vis�o importante desse momento de transforma��o social, de um ponto de vista absolutamente pessoal – o que s� adiciona ao contexto; porque, como j� se disse antes, “cante a sua aldeia e cantar�s o mundo”. Porque todos vivemos os mesmos questionamentos, todos vivemos o mesmo momento intenso e as mesmas “dores de parto” de criar um novo modelo, mais livre, mais din�mico, mais justo e , sobretudo, mais humano. Um modelo para fazer felizes e realizados os seres humanos, e com eles, tamb�m os outros seres.
O livro n�o � um manual, at� porque o despertar n�o tem manual, tanto quanto a vida de infinitas possibilidades n�o tem. Mas � um guia, na medida em que, acompanhando os di�logos que acontecem ali, � poss�vel encontrar chaves e s�nteses verdadeiramente efetivas e pr�ticas. � bem verdade que, como est� dito no pr�prio livro, h� pessoas que talvez n�o consigam conectar-se com o conte�do, caso permane�am com o pensamento fixo nos seus medos. O ponto crucial aqui � exatamente esse: vivemos ainda os ecos de uma sociedade criada para estimular o medo e a falta; e atrav�s destes instrumentos, criar o extremo consumismo e a desconex�o da pressa e do desespero. Esta freq��ncia dominou por muito tempo, praticamente um monop�lio da consci�ncia humana no planeta, onde as exce��es eram sempre considerados “os loucos”.
Pois bem, o monop�lio do medo acabou, o tempo do compartilhamento � agora, e “11 dias de Despertar” � uma excelente porta de entrada, uma introdu��o para aqueles que identificam-se com aquele inesquec�vel e hoje famoso par�grafo que talvez um dia esteja colocado num monumento em homenagem a este momento de transi��o no mundo:
“Isto � para os loucos. Os desajustados. Os rebeldes. Os criadores de caso. Os que s�o pe�as redondas nos buracos quadrados. Os que v�em as coisas de forma diferente. Eles n�o gostam de regras. E eles n�o t�m nenhum respeito pelo status quo. Voc� pode cit�-los, discordar deles, glorific�-los ou difam�-los. Mas a �nica coisa que voc� n�o pode fazer � ignor�-los. Porque eles mudam as coisas. Eles empurram a ra�a humana para frente. Enquanto alguns os v�em como loucos, n�s vemos g�nios. Porque as pessoas que s�o loucas o suficiente para achar que podem mudar o mundo s�o as que, de fato, mudam.”
